An Emmett Convert

I started training for the London Marathon in mid November 2010. Having been experiencing some hip pain prior to starting the training, I went to the Drs to get the all clear and had some x-rays which confirmed nothing was amiss (and that exercise would help). With a little physio to help me along the way, my training was going really well until I did the Kingston Breakfast run 3 weeks before the marathon.

I ran 17.5 miles that day but ended up with terrible pinching in my right hip and could barely walk for days. I returned to the Drs to find out what was going wrong and was referred to a sports physician privately who diagnosed a flicking psoas and referred me for aggressive physio on my psoas, however, he saw no reason why I should not complete the marathon.

That same day (2 weeks prior to the marathon) I had intensive physio on my psoas and over the course of that night I developed severe back pain, to the point that I could not sleep and could barely move the next day. In concern for my back and marathon chances I went to see an osteopath. This helped slightly initially, but I then became bed ridden for 4-5 days and could not move or find a position where I was not in excruciating agony. Luckily, a friend offered to take me to see Lesley and I had my first Emmett treatment. The results were instant and I got most of my mobility back and the pain subsided enormously.

I went back to see Leslie for a second treatment 4 days before the marathon. Again the effects were immediate and I was completely pain free for the first time since I did the Kingston Breakfast run and I had full mobility back. The next day I did a test run for 3 miles. It was the first run I had been able to do in just under 3 weeks. I was nervous and cautious but after that run I realised that I would actually be able to give the marathon a shot! The miracle is not just how effective this treatment is (for which Lesley has a true healing talent) but also that it could endure someone running 26.2 miles! The day itself was an emotional experience - it was truly incredible, but it brings tears to my eyes typing this due to the wonderment of this therapy and I feel so incredibly lucky and grateful to have found Lesley and this amazing treatment.

I am now an Emmett convert and have had two maintenance sessions since the marathon which always make my body feel great. I still can't believe how something that is so subtle and non-invasion can have such incredible results.

With sincere thanks to both Leslie and Ross for sharing this wonderful therapy with the world! I think you're both amazing. I could not have achieved running a marathon without your help and I am truly grateful.
