The EMM-Care Disability and Special Needs Support Program is a new and evolving program that has two aspects to it.
1: A specialised course for Practitioners who have achieved EP1 qualifications (Emmett Professional Level 1)
This course aims to increase the Practitioners knowledge and awareness, giving the Practitioners the insight to treat clients with special needs and disabilities. Practitioners will gain confidence in treating clients who may be wheelchair bound, have limited movement or reduced communication abilities. The Practitioner will be shown skills on how to use adaptive behaviour for a range of situations. . . from working with clients with physical disabilities through to clients in agitated or hypoactive states. Practitioners will gain insight into different clinical situations where they may be faced with challenging behaviour or clients who need physical support due to limited movement abilities. We will share how to approach clients, how to best adapt, ways to interact and signs to look for when treating clients.
2: EMM-Care Support Worker - Registered Emmett Technique Program offering Practitioners the opportunity to assist clients by providing support to their parents /care workers by sharing with them effective, gentle and safe muscle release moves that can be used at home and easily incorporated with other care programs and existing medical therapies.
The Emmett corrections shared with the client will be chosen from a group of specialised corrections to suit their requirements and be best suited for at home support. The selected program will be a group of 3 corrections the Practitioners believes will best assist the individual client's needs for at home or after hours use. The support role doesn't take away the Emmett Practitioners role as their therapist, it empowers clients with disabilities or who care for people with disabilities, to receive the care they need after hours or at home during their care routines.
The Practitioner remains involved in the ongoing treatment of the client in their clinic but also can provide another valuable support to the client through their carer/health care worker etc to ensure they are able to receive support at home or after hours when they often need it most.
The disability support program is a wonderful concept by Ross Emmett to share the Emmett Technique to those in need and to support practitioners achieve the best results they can by using the Emmett Technique.
