Ross Emmett - The Man behind the Technique

Ross Emmett, the founder of the EMMETT Technique, was born in Australia in 1945. Today he lives and works in Townsville on its North East coast. He has been in clinical practice since 1981, treating over 100 clients a week and now travels throughout the world lecturing and holding seminars on his unique insights into bodywork.

Ross is a gifted and dynamic practitioner and instructor in many therapies including

  • Therapeutic Massage since 1983
  • Bowen Therapy from 1988
  • Neuro-Linguistic Programming

Acutely aware of all of the subconscious triggers for healing Ross is also a qualified Hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner and he uses all his skills in his treatments to gain the best possible outcome for his clients. He has a unique and special gift that allows him to see each client’s needs at any moment, to know what to do and to adapt so that the treatment is individually tailored. This "Chameleon" approach has long been the major success in Ross’ technique and produces outstanding results.

What is unique and unusual about the EMMETT Technique is that Ross developed it long before he had any formal bodywork training. Highly intuitive with incredible observational skills, his varied upbringing, experiences and interests, as well as his dyslexia have all, he believes, contributed to the therapy that is today “The EMMETT Technique”.

Key experiences which have contributed to the development of the EMMETT Technique

  • 18 months in an orphanage at the age of 7

  • 10 years in amateur boxing
  • 5 years in animal research
  • Dog Trainer and Senior Dog Obedience Judge
  • 2 years as a Maximum Security Prison Officer
  • 15 years as a rigger in the Mount Isa mines
  • Over 35 years as a Remedial Therapist

Ross developed and used his techniques on animals long before he even considered trying them out on their two legged friends. His first clinic was conducted after hours, having worked a full day in the mines in Mount Isa, Queensland.

Today Ross’ clinic is in Townsville. He works alongside, and has been referred to by over 70 doctors and medical professionals. Their respect for Ross’ ability and technique and his for theirs has developed into a close and long lasting working relationship where Ross’ opinions will often be sought before surgical intervention is considered. Through the support and respect of his medical colleagues Ross was one of the first massage therapists in Australia to be registered for medical rebates. In this association with the medical establishment he enjoys a truly unique situation for a complementary therapist.

Ross brought his method to England in 2007. Since then his technique has gone global and courses are now run in over 40 countries around the world. More and more countries are hearing about EMMETT and inviting Ross to widen his travels and share the technique.
